This feature can be quite useful, and many PCs come with built-in Bluetooth support. But some of us still need Bluetooth upgrades. Sometimes users might not be even aware that their device has Bluetooth. In this article, we will elaborate on how to double-check for Bluetooth. In older laptops and computers built-in Bluetooth used to be a non-existent feature but in recent years a surprisingly higher number of desktops have begun shipping with Bluetooth.

Why would I want to find Bluetooth on my PC?

You can use your computer perfectly even without Bluetooth. Most of your activities won\’t be hindered by it. On the other hand, there are tens of thousands of peripherals and accessories that would become more convenient by using the Bluetooth feature.

For instance, it would make your speaker a lot more portable and convenient to pipe in the music over Bluetooth as compared to an auxiliary audio cable. Bluetooth speakers retain the ability to move anywhere in your office. It is also handy when using wireless headphones, game controllers, keyboards, and other peripherals which is otherwise a drag.

Find Bluetooth on your PC – Windows

Here\’s how to find if your PC has in-built Bluetooth support or not. Check all these:

1.  The System tray
2.  The Device Manager
3.  The Control Panel
4.  The Settings app

1. Check the System tray

  1. Click the overflow button.
  2. Look into the System tray to check if the Bluetooth icon is there. If it is, you have Bluetooth on your system.

2. Check the Device Manager

The easiest way to check for Bluetooth support is via Device Manager. To locate Bluetooth on your device follow these steps:

1. Press the Win + X keys or right-click Start.

2. Open Device Manager.

3. A window will open, look for the Bluetooth option.

If you can’t find Bluetooth listed here, look under Network adapters on the Device Manager window. Bluetooth might be listed there instead.

3. Check the Control Panel

The third method to find if your Windows 10 device has Bluetooth, is to look for the Bluetooth app in the Control Panel. You can do it by following these steps:

1. Press Windows key + R, to access the Run dialog box.

2. Type ncpa.cpl, press Enter, to open network connections.

3. Alternatively, navigate to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings.

There should be a Bluetooth Network Connection there. If you can’t find it listed there, then your device doesn’t have Bluetooth.

4. Check the Settings app

Follow these steps to check Bluetooth in the Settings app.:

1. Press Win + I or click the Start menu button.

2. Select Settings.

3. Go to Devices to open the window.

4. Select Bluetooth

You should be able to add Bluetooth devices in here. To turn it on/off toggle the Bluetooth button.

Find Bluetooth on your PC – Mac

1. Open the Menu. Click the Apple logo in the top-left corner of the screen.

2. Click About This Mac in the drop-down menu. A pop-up will appear.

3. Select System Report… at the bottom to open another window.

4. Click the arrowhead next to the Hardware section. You should see a list of indented sub-headings below the Hardware category.

5. Go to the Bluetooth sub-heading.

6. If your device supports Bluetooth, clicking the heading displays Bluetooth information on the right side of the window.

If you don\’t see a Bluetooth option here, your Mac does not have built-in Bluetooth.

Manually install Bluetooth driver

It can also happen that Bluetooth is turned on but your device does not have the driver installed for it. Here\’s how you can manually install them:

1. Navigate the website for your device manufacturer.

2. Type your device’s model number.

3. Download the Bluetooth driver.

4  Run the file and it will install the Bluetooth driver.

5. Restart the system.

6. Press Win+I keys to open the Security app.

7. Head to Devices/Bluetooth.

8. Turn Bluetooth on.
