The world of video games is full of memorable antagonists with so much charm that they can sometimes become more well-known than the hero. Today, we talk about these scary enemies, but not because they are famous. Instead, we talk about why they did terrible things. But what if they were right?
In a lot of video games, we’ve had a hard time. We have been hit with loud speeches, death traps, and swarms of bloodthirsty minions for hours. But what is it about some bad guys that makes them more well-known than the good guys? Why are enemies like Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII, Ganondorf from The Legend of Zelda, and the pirate LeChuck from Monkey Island still so popular after so many years? There’s no question that they have charisma, but that’s not what we want to talk about today. Instead, we want to talk about something completely different. What if all these bad guys were right in the end? What if, after we caught them, we found out that they were the ones acting logically?

Yes, they are mean and cruel people who don’t mind killing to get what they want. No one doubts that what they did was wrong, but what if what they did was right? What if, with all their bad ways, they were trying to avoid something even worse? We talked about great video game bad guys because of this idea, and this is what they came up with. Each bad guy has his own reasons for doing what he does, and even though his methods are almost never the most civilised, it can be hard not to sympathise with his goals.
